Definition and meaning of EGR valve
The EGR valve is a component that controls the flow of exhaust gases, which in modern engines is electronically controlled by the ECU. In petrol engines, EGR valves typically operate at a recirculation rate of 5–15%, while in diesel engines, these values can reach up to 50%. This allows the system to meet the stringent Euro 5 and Euro 6 emission standards, which is crucial for vehicles manufactured after 2014.
